Team Manager Scope
TEAM MANAGER REQUIREMENTS:
- Need to register on USA hockey as a volunteer. https://membership.usahockey.com
- Need to complete a background check. If you did this last year you don't have to do it this year. A background check is good for two years. https://www.usahockey.com/backgroundscreen
- Need to complete the SafeSport training as a volunteer. http://www.usahockey.com/safesporttraining Bring in a copy or a printout of the receipts for any of these items and the association will reimburse you.
TEAM MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively communicating important team and league information to players, parents, and coaches is a vital part of your role. Clear and consistent communication is essential.
- Be the liaison between team coaches and your team. Relay messages, practice or game schedule changes as needed.
- It is recommended that a weekly Facebook post be posted reminding everyone of upcoming events such as:
- Practice times/changes
- Game times (home and away)
- Address of away rinks
- Arrival times for games
- Away Games
- Verify away games the week before by confirming the games are listed on the opponents’ websites.
- Locate the opposing manager or coach and confirm proper gamesheet set up and any roster changes.
- Planning during team tournaments:
- Reserve a block of rooms at a hotel and inform families of the latest date to reserve a room, the address of the hotel, and the address of the rink.
- Organize a lunch or dinner during the tournament if families agree.
- Plan team door decor & treat bags for kids (if desired)
- Arrange for coach recognition gifts (Christmas & season end) if desired by team.
- Collect all jersey at the end of season and turn in Manager tasks may be shared and/or delegated.
